When I went into local authority for 18 months...Jesus wept. No more than 37 hours a week, sick leave, grievances. My boss was also told not to use the word 'brainstorm' because it was offensive to mentally-ill people. Not even epileptics, which would still be pushing it too far.
In my area, bin men are considering striking because they don't like their new wage structure. Everyone who works in a business is just happy to keep a job, with many people taking salary reductions.
Labour created this client state, opened borders to increase their vote and left us with the biggest deficit in history.

I am not sure about these numbers.
I read that in 2005 a House of Commons select Committee stopped counting at over 8500 Quangos ( you mention 1,164) and costs of a staggering £147 Billion making up 21% of GDP. I find it strange the Guardian is using the taxpayers alliance figures. A comment I have read is that to get an idea of the types of waste just take a look at the Guardian jobs page with loads of meaningless jobs on about £70k a year or more to do with promoting multiculturism, diversity etc. The book I read was by Kevin D'Arcy interestingly enough with recommendation by Claire Short and Tony Benn.
I didn't buy the book but hope this will trigger people that have good research skills to dig into these figures as I'm sure we would all like to know.
