Default changing our language for immigrants

Town halls ban staff from using Latin words, in case they confuse immigrants | Mail Online

Oh dear!! Why oh why do we have to change? And as these phrases are such an integral part of our language (which has many roots in Latin) they can be described as "English" phrases.

Madness. Just dumbing down the whole country to its lowest common denominator.

I am appalled by the conduct of this TORY-led council. They should be ashamed of themselves for trying to weaken our diverse language. I think these three quotes from the Telegraph sum it up:

* "This is absolute bonkers and the linguistic equivalent of ethnic cleansing"
* "This sort of thing sends out the message that language is about nothing more than the communication of very basic information in the manner of a railway timetable"
* "To try and wipe out the richness does a great disservice to the language. It demeans it. I am all for immigrants raising their sights not lowering them"

Councils ban 'elitist' and 'discriminatory' Latin phrases - Telegraph

Addendum: The TORY-led Amber Valley Borough Council now think the phrases "man made", "lay man" and "one man show" manage to "portray once sex as subordinate to the other". David Cameron himself said "we talk about people being 'at risk of obesity' instead of talking about people who eat too much and take too little exercise." Right. So he agrees that you should call a spade a spade... this is why his party is banning concise and useful terms for council employees across the country and diluting idioms to the point of unrecognisability?

Sorry... but I felt like having a rant.

What we should be doing is noting down the names of all such traitorous local government officers. If the UKIP or the BNP were to make it plain they were keeping such registers for future 'consideration' maybe they'd think twice.

The scum only do things like this council have done because they believe they are immune.

Let's get writing in Latin to this smart alec council and just a few short sharp phrases are the order of the day.

Many light years ago I studied Latin, albeit with little enthusiasm and my results were dismal, but I am sure we could drum up a few stiff words, to send off to these jobsworths, who are doing their level best to destroy our heritage.

It is in the best interests of immigrants to learn the native language, in this case English.
Being committed to learning English should be a part of being able to stay otherwise bye bye
(It would also help if some effort was made to teach "native children" English as well)

Here's one

Ego sum trying non ut permissum buggers frendo mihi down tamen miserabile vestri concilium fossor es non succurro.

I am trying not to let the buggers grind me down but sadly your council clowns are not helping.

I think these councils should take my signature on board... it means "look behind you; remember that you are but a man!"

Esperanto - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Esperanto has had continuous usage by a community estimated at between 100,000 and 2 million speakers for over a century.
I think that someone needs to change this wiki entry (or am I wrong?)
