I arrived back in blighty yesterday after a 12 hour flight from Bangkok. We landed at heathrow, just preparing to disembark when we were all told to sit back down again.

Next minute four coppers looking like robocop are asking for some passenger that was sitting near me. They had moved further back to chat to friends as the flight was half empty and some other dude was in his original seats.

After trying to haul the wrong guy off the plane, they found the guy they were looking for.

I'd been chatting to them throughout the flight a really nice couple, who had been on holiday without their kids for the first time (late teens). The cops wouldn't tell them what it was about until they got off the plane, so needless to say they thought something had happened to their kids while they were away.

The cops were really arsey and acting like total power crazed pricks.

Turns out the fella had not paid a fine he received when he was nineteen. He is now probably fortyish. I was last off the plane and heard them saying they were going to take him to a cash point.

WTF???????

This took four cops a police van and inconvenienced 250 odd passsengers. Do the police 'Service' thirst for revenue so badly that they need to be heavy handed for such minor situations.

A letter or a phone call would probably have done the job but they had to wade in embarrass he and his wife...... absolutely appalling.

I believe I may have made the worst mistake of my life moving back to the facist police state UK, my first and lasting impression of my new life back in England are stormtroopers waiting to haul passengers away.

Welcome home. Now get used to fortnightly bin collections, an army of traffic enforces and the new cameras they rolling out to help them.
Don't think of dropping an apple core or you could end up in the cells for 18 hours.
Avoid twon centres on a Friday and Saturday night unless you are accompanied by a UN peacekeeping force and wearing a bullet proof vest.
I'm afraid unlike in Iraq a press pass won't stop the insurgents (you can spot them by their burberry caps and tracky bottoms) beating you to within an inch of your life.

How dare you suggest Britain is a Police State. Just take it like a ***** and shut up. You are free, free to do what they tell you.

You are going on the database for spending too long on the internet and asking too many questions now.

While you are here do not use the buses in London at school chucking out time, Red Ken stupidly gave the Ferrel thugs free travel on London buses and they are a law unto themselves. For your own sanity and more importantly, safety, stay off the buses between 3 and 5pm. Do not try to defend yourself or others against these kids as you will probably be arrested (they want your DNA). Yes, welcome home.

You know I've been back just over three days and people I've spoken to so far have said the same thing.... what have you come back for???? in an astonished manner, as if I had squandered the chance to get out. It's a worry. Few people were talking like this seven years ago when I left.

On another note I felt like I was an alien when I stepped through T3 arrivals at Heathrow. I would estimate one in ten was white in that arrivals area, the majority Pakistani with varying length beards and you had to strain to hear anyone speaking our mother tongue. I would also say that from what I could see, one in three people working there were white.

It's a sorry state of affairs.

PCMadness - very sorry to hear about your experiences.

But please just realize that this is allowed to happen due to GOVERNMENT POLICY.
And if you accept this is policy then what else do you think is policy too ?

You know what I'm talking about......

Not if, having eaten them, you later just drop them in the street!
