Well there's one certainty, Islam certainly isn't a follow on from either.

Islam just cherry pick the bits it wants, just as Nazism cherry picked from Socialism and Nationalism and bound the chosen bits with the venom of its own creation.

Actually Christianity is a natural follow on from Judaism since Judaism had maintained its exclusivity by its rules so Christianity set aside those rules and invited anyone to jump on the bus while still holding to the basics.
