My German relatives had absolutely no idea that the death camps existed and were adamant that Nazism was NOT universal though it was far more common in Berlin and the Deep South.

That was by order of the German government not the German people. Making the jews wear the star of david made the German people fear being seen as a traitor if they were to speak too, or be seen socializing with jews. It was a form of psychological Apartheid. It stopped German people being able to think well they seem all right to me.

You could be right about that It was a bit of an assumption on my part.

But look at it like this we know their are Muslims held in Guantanamo Bay. We have no idea of who they are or why they are there. They are there with no real leagal representation and no chance of a fair trial in quite despicable conditions. And what do we as a nation do. We berry our heads in the sands.
We don't even have to fear joining them if we speak out.

I suspect that there where varying degrees of knowledge about them across the population just like these times really

Come on guys the history is a bit hazy . The boxheads were bullies , we said NO they said come and have a go if you think your hard enough,we did ,fairly even fore a few years ,tag teamed the yanks ,end of story!

I think you'll find that it's actually the actions of muzzers which builds hatred of islam. When a cult has a war going at every one of its borders, blows shiz up randomly, chops folks' heads off on the Internet, demands that non-members of the cult follow the cult's rules, has been at war constantly since its inception and riots over a bunch of cartoons, people start to take notice.
