Given that our parliament will soon not be the overriding democratic power of this country and we will instead be ruled by a political class who can only except or refuse legislation submitted by a commission of twelve unelected people who are accountable to no one. It may not soon matter what the general public think about the lefties as we won't be able to vote them out.

I watched this moron being interviewed. He obviously does not understand real life like most dedicated loonies. He has not thought through what he is saying.Has he foreseen what will actually happen?

1. Smokers will be given 1 month to register and then the application will be closed so that no one else can smoke / buy cigarettes.
2. Tax Revenue will fall because a. People will stop smoking, or go to live in a non fascist society. b. Buy their smokes on the black market.
3. A huge administration and enforcement empire will be set up ,costing billions of pounds, to find the illegal smokers and their suppliers.
4. instead of helping the NHS it will be deprived of money to pay for 3.
5. The prisons will become even more crowded and the legal boys will make a fortune defending all the offenders.

The Yanks tried to ban booze and learnt the above lesson. Pity these morons in charge don't read their history books.

If introduced I wonder whether it will apply to the sale of tobacco only in the UK ?

If you get the ferry from France to Dover, I'd guess you can expect a right grilling from the security mob, but can they do anything to cover the import of tobacco from outside the UK ?

My guess is they'll totally ban imports too, but if they didn't, one could argue that they can smoke just so long as they don't buy the tobacco in the UK.

I doubt it but just a thought....

What a stupid idea, people with just start forming groups with one member having the licence and buying all the cigarettes. Seems to be just another way to trying to get everyone's details by using one detail at a time. First all the smokers must have a licence and give their details and so on...
