I suggest that you bear that in mind and read Hebrews 9 and in particular verse 11.

Also Luke 6:37 and Mathew 7:1. The fact that both disciples make this point indicates just how important it was in the teaching by Jesus.

In any case, 1 Samuel and the statement that “David loved Jonathan greater than any woman” speaks volumes, comes well after the presentation of Leviticus, and certainly didn’t see either of them being put to death for playing “hide the sausage” together!

Not another one who thinks David batted for the other side, so what I love my father and my brother more than any woman, does not mean I am sleeping with them. I can say I love you to a male friend, does not mean I am sleeping with him either.

Saying that homosexual activity is sinful in no way breaks the new covernant and you know full well it does not, you are just attempting to push an agenda. I say to you again if that is the type of church you want where sin is not acknoledged as sins and people try to free themselves from transgressions through the Love of our saviour that is your business.

It looks as if your understanding of Christianity and The Bible is very superficial indeed.

Let’s put to one side the duties that every Christian has for the moment and just concentrate on the David and Jonathan bit.

We read in 1 Sam. 18 : 1 .. 4 that “Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that he was wearing, and gave it to David, and his armor, and even his sword and his bow and his belt.

Now the armor and weapons of a prince were important symbols of his power and status and especially so at that time. This was no “you’re my bestest mate!” thing, this was betrothal pure and simple.

Later it is made even MORE clear when Jonathan sounded out his dad regarding the possibility of David being allowed back in safety. His old man’s response was to say as recorded in 1 Sam 20 : 30.

“You son of a perverse, rebellious woman! Do I not know that you have chosen [David] the son of Jesse to your own shame and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness? For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established.”

There’s more than one GAY man who’s had very similar words said to him by his father in connection with his same sex partner.

Then ask if it was unusual for same sex relationships at the time. The answer is of course no. Take Alexander the Great. Queer as a nine bob note. And then of course there’s Jesus and his relationship with John. Certainly something very funny about THAT tie up! “Woman, here is thy son” to Mary and then to the ‘beloved disciple’ “Here is your mother” implying mother in law.

This could go on and on.

The simple fact is that quite apart from any other consideration for ANY Christian church to refuse to treat GAY people EXACTLY the same as everyone else is patently un Christian in so many ways.

Wrong the christian church treat gay people exactly the same as they do others, gay and hetrosexual people are sinners and all equal in Gods Eyes.

SOme of your other remarks are beyond contempt.

Well that is patently NOT the case as the opening item on this thread shows!

Then there is this gem.

Quote

Anni Holden, spokesman for the Diocese of Hereford, said: "We are now aware that when making such an appointment we must make it clear if it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder should believe in and uphold the Christian belief and ideal of marriage, and that sexual relationships are confined to marriage.

As for my remarks being beyond contempt, which, and why?

Regarding the comment you have posted from Anni Holden this is not discrimnatory it applys to people regardless of sexuality.

Actually what the orignal item n this thread shows is another example of the Chrisitan faith being underminded by PC laws which are unworkable.

I have nothing further to add about your other comments except to say I stand by my views on them.

Do you actually agree with the verdict reference this case? A previous poster said that the law should always be upheld, do you take the view you that you would never break the law?

When she commented as the spokesman for the Diocese of Hereford, and said: "We are now aware that when making such an appointment we must make it clear if it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder should believe in and uphold the Christian belief and ideal of marriage, and that sexual relationships are confined to marriage.

Anni Holden is proposing an illegal position.

The law in the UK is simple. It is illegal to apply discrimination against a person because of their sexuality. If the job requires discrimination then the job must be changed.

I absolutely agree with the verdict in this case.

As regards breaking law, what I might do as an individual and what I might do while practicing my profession can be separated.

As a professional I would NEVER break the law while practicing my profession.
