Thats true of everything outside of Descartes famous cogito. Putting aside the most mundane sceptical arguments and focusing on a common sense philosophy, the principle of the uniformity of nature is extremely useful.

Not really... Just because Plato holds something doesn't make it true - he was right about some things and wrong about some things. It is the actual argument that is important, not the person who holds it.
