He (Stuart Mole, the director-general of the society) said it did not fit in with the overall theme of the readings, adding: "We also need to be mindful of the congregation, which will probably include quite a few drawn by the occasion and by the carols but who do not hold a deep (or even a shallow) faith."
So what?

Yesterday Ms Odone said: "I think there is a tremendous move to down play this country's Christian heritage, to silence, ridicule and marginalise religious belief.

"They have shown precisely the kind of intolerance and disapproval of Christianity that I am talking about."
I couldn't agree more.

Good piece on this on the Today programme this morning. Nonsense nicely exposed.

Is the eisteddfod too Welsh? Is Burns night too Scottish? Is a traditional ceilide band too Irish?
No
But a young white English girl gets turned away from a course application - too white and too English.
The point, of course, is that if they can take away your religion and your national identity in one country, why stop?

I'm not Christian, but I am shoulder to shoulder with Christians on this (and probably quite a lot of other issues at the moment).

Default Politically correct, Christmas, Birmingham, "Wintervil", Health and Safety, trees

Well - here we go again. The annual politically correct campaign against Christmas is about to begin.

Remember Birmingham City Council calling its Christmas festivities "Wintervil" (a ridiculous name which leaders of non-Christian religions in the city rightly condemned)?

Do you recall all those Health and Safety officials trying (last year and the year before) to ban Christmas trees from council premises on the grounds that the electric lights on the trees were (allegedly) not safe; the trees might fall down or someone may walk into one?

We need a national campaign to defend Christmas to be set up to put a stop to this politically correct anti-Christian and anti-religious nonsense.

I see absolutely no problem with a secular person celebrating Christmas - the festival has been around for around 2,500 years and it is most certainly a part of European culture.

A Christian can accept the religious value of Christmas - that's fine by me. A secular person can accept the cultural value of Christmas. Heck, even the pagan gets a look-in!

I would like to know what the religious beliefs are of those who want to destroy this ancient tradition.
