Default Alcohol disease 'hits young hard'

BBC NEWS | Health | Alcohol disease 'hits young hard'

Quote:
The warning comes as a new alliance calls for a rise in alcohol taxes, and a bar on TV advertising before 9pm.

Twenty-four organisations, representing doctors and charities, have joined together to form the Alcohol Health Alliance.
Great, another bunch of fascists who want to ruin it for everyone, because of the stupidity or lack of education of some.

Focus on the uneducated or stuipid you dicks, otherwise prohibition by the back door = another route for criminals to prosper and consumers to suffer.

I think better parenting and education at school might just help a bit more than higher taxes. Tougher sentences for being drunk and disorderly might be a good way to go as well.

I agree to a degree. Definite need to educate people on the dangers of abuse of alcohol, at school.

Being drunk isn't necessarly a bad thing. Being drunk to the point that you cause danger to others is. That is what needs punishing and punishing harshly.

BTW has anyone seen that advert, where a bloke thinks he is a superhero, then flys up to get some girl's baloons and ends up falling and hurting himself?

I doubt that is going to make a single person change their behaviour. What they should be showing is drunks getting buggered in prison, after trying to fight people while they are drunk.

Or them hurting/killing a little kid after trying to drive home drunk and the after effects that has on a family. Then them being carted off to prison and getting buggered repeatedly.

That might make people think twice about risking it.

How about stopping all health care for those who injure themselves whilst drunk or those who damage themselves through repetitive drinking? You did it to yourself, you pay for it.

That's cool by me, as long as we can all opt out of paying for the NHS too.

Of course.

But then it would just become another private, voluntary organisation. Which would suit me fine.
