Whatever you think about religion, people should be free to choose their religion. Once the state steps in, they are simply interfering in people's fundamental rights. It should have nothing to do with government - it is not a league table !

It doesn't suprise me they have thought this up because they are determined to promote their agenda of "muticultaralism" and attacking christianity in this way helps them achieving their goal.
I am not against real multicultaralism at all, but it not a government that promotes any kind of worthwhile culture or freedom, it's more like a "no culture" policy but they always refer to "multiculturalism" and "globalism".

They don't 'do' patriotism either. That much was clear long before Labour got in back in 1997.

I side on the atheist/agnostics too.

Though I accept that the UK has a Christian heritage, and culture, and people should be allowd to worship whatever they choose.

I however do not think an agnostic/atheist UK would be a bad thing.

An Atheist state *IS* one of the many steps forward.
Religion and state are united the Queen is head of the Church of England and the PM advises of appointments for Archbishops and Bishops.

As for an athiest state well i think it will happen but whilst their is breath is my overwieght body I shall fight it because of the many benefits there are in the partnership between church and state.

I am against mixing Religion and Politics ( You only have to look at Muslim Countries to know why!) But I would not subscribe to an "Atheist" state either! For me Atheist state = Communism!

This is the problem christians face as what they stand for is continually undermined and we are told we have to accpet things that Gods Teachings tell us are worng. I for one will not.
