Equality superquango to cost taxpayer £22 million | the Daily Mail

The new 'Equality and Human Rights Commission' which took took over from Quangos such as the Commission for Racial Equality andthe Equal Opportunities Commission on 1st October is to cost more than all its predecessors combined.

Official figures have revealed that the 'streamlined' body will cost taxpayers £70million a year - compared with a total of £48million for its three predecessors.

The super-powerful Quango is also due to expand over the next few years, so it will cost even more.

I personally believe that eventually there is a good chance that these Quangos, sponsored and supported by the European Union, will supersede and neuter the role of Parliament and democratically elected bodies - essentially creating a system of government of 'taxation, but no representation'.

I saw an advert for De Montford University. The Equality and Diversity officer job was going for a salary of between 40 - 50 thousand squid a year. I wonder what could have been bought for the University with an extra 50 grand a year? I wonder how much lecturers get paid compared this post?
