Default Comedian praises country where "there is no political correctness"

Comedian Jim Davidson said on "Hell's Kitchen" (cookery competition) on ITV 1 at 10.05 pm on 7.9.2007 "I live in Dubai - where there is no political correctness. They don't wrap society in cotton wool and everyone gets on fine. Isn't that strange?"

Maybe there is no political correctness in Dubai but it's a bit close to Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran for me to go anywhere near that place!

No political correctness = no politics. The place isn't a democracy as we know it.

Democray isn't necessarily the best form of government. A dictatorship is far more efficient and can be much better than a democracy if the dictator cares about the people and runs things well. The problem of course is that there is no guarantee they will do any such thing, and so democracy is the most effective method of ensuring stability and moderation. But democracy is far less efficient, more beaurocratic, and weaker.

I'm all for a dictarorship, so long as it is I who is the dictator.

It is because the whole power of the aggressor depends upon preventing people from seeing what is happening and from saying what they see. "

Perhaps the quoted words were "Dubai. No political. Correct?"

The foreigners sailed over in 1066 and acted like they owned the place.
