I think many in this country will have huge sympathy with what Ann Widecombe is saying, she is quite correct to use the term moral anarchy.

He comments regarding Ruth Kelly and Tony Blair are spot on, what they did in office did not correspond to what they said about their faith.

It's a shame that this fine and sensible-talking woman will be retiring from the political scene at the young age of 60. But sadly it seems that the age of the "elder statesman" has gone. We have to put up with the young and trendy lefties with their so-called liberal ideals whilst they shackle us with rules, regulations, DNA databases and identity cards which some of the older people remember only too well as the evils of the communist and facist regimes which sprang up across Europe and Eurasia in the past 100 years.

The current ruling mob laughed at what their elders told them when they were young: "I fought for your freedom against Hitler and Mussolini." Is it any wonder we are returning to those dark days of fascism. History is forgotten, and people like Miss Widdicombe are laughed at as oddities despite their wisdom and knowledge.

I'm not the world's greatest fan of Widdy. But I've gotta give it up to her, she's always been true to her beliefs and principals.

In todays House, full of slick spin doctors and snake oil salesmen, the retirement of an honest and uncowed mouth is something to be regretted.

I felt the same way when Tony Benn retired. I wasn't the worlds greatest fan of Tony Benn either.

Her conversion was due to the decision by The Anglican Church to ordain women priests ( they are not that diffrent by the way)

Maybe Widdy's principals/beliefs obliged her to change church when she found she could no longer support her original churches principal/beliefs. Personally I really just don't care as to where or what she worships!

Agree with her or disagree with her, in a world full of g0bsh1tes at least she spoke the truth as she saw it.

Unfortunately that seems to be a rare commodity in politics.

Also - the Roman Catholic (RC) Church stance on abortion is more in line with the view of Mrs. Ann Widdecombe who is against abortion. The RC Church is more strongly opposed to abortion than the Anglican Church appears to be at the moment.

yes it is and quite rightly so, mercifully my priest is Pro Life although he is the only one in the entire diocese to be a member of a pro Life group that I know of.
