Brendan Barber of the Trade Union Congress is a prat! The woman lived in Exeter and has two young children and NO responsible partner to speak of. If Sir Alan can't ask a straight forward question concerning HOW ON EARTH she would get to his office, then the country is going to pot.

Barber should be helping to find out what makes certain people working at Birmingham Airport such lazy sods, as per Trevor McDonald's Tonight programme!

Not much point in employing someone who would immediately resign when expected to relocate. It is patently stupid to employ someone whose personal circumstances would prevent them from carrying out the work they were employed to do.
Commuting from Devon to London was never going to be acceptable for SAS so it was a fair question.
To put it down to sexism is nonsense.

I think the point he was making is that Sir Allen ONLY asked the Women candidates. If he had asked the same question to the blokes he would be on solid legal ground, but 'discriminating' is a big no no.

Of course it is all ********. As an employer he has a perfect right to ask the question and get a straight answer (which he did). It was public knowledge that she is a single mother and has two young children and lives in Exeter. With this knowledge he was simply asking her whether she would be prepared to make the move.

Barber can go swivel. His comments are not worth the energy to listen to.

Because those who make it will do well; those who don't make it get their own show, become megastars of daytime tv and get treated like they've just walked on the moon.

Probably better to come second and make millions for doing **** all than win and have to work for £100k a year.
