No not now.

The Caribbean place is now run on them.

They have replaced the three turbines of 7.8mw each and the 15.5mw Diesel Generators.(now only used for backups)

Does anyone here actually have one?

I want to know yearly savings? If it ever goes wrong? How much does it cost to fix? Do you find dead birds and squirels at the bottom of it or a bloody pulp? Does it drone? Does it strobe the sunlight much? Do you get much vibrations? How long are they guaranteed for?

I'll get one if I am convinced that I will save money over it's lifetime and doesn't ruin my house, kill animals too much or anoy everyone.

It would have to save a lot more than £100 per year to make me pay out £1500. Other less glamorous options like better insulation could possibly generate greater savings with a much lower outlay.

Well you could do both. I am really interested in whether it is net positive to my bank balance over it's life time. That means investing the money I would spend on it now too in an average savings account, so that compound interest is taken into account too.

It would save a bunch more than £100pa,don't forget it would also remove your electric bills if you put the correct size unit in and some storage batteries.

Yes, but with all due respect to B&Q - a fine company, no doubt - I would not be banking on my turbine lasting 20 years or more, which is what would be necessary I think (if I could be bothered to do the cost-benefit calculation).

I'm going to research the claims and stated benefits and will come back.

Don't fall into the trap that the Energy Companies set by not getting one in the future.

The prices are already starting to fall.

Like most things, get one a mite bigger than you need as well.
