Default Britain sets new targets for carbon emissions

http://www.theage.com.au/news/nation...749190091.html

Quote:
Meanwhile, a London council is trialling a scheme that would force drivers of the most polluting vehicles to pay up to £450 ($A1110) a year to park outside their homes. The scheme being piloted by Richmond Council in south-west London is the first to penalise motorists for their choices, while owners of cleaner cars would get a discount on their parking fees.

Richmond Council leader Serge Lourie told reporters: "If you've got an electric car you'll pay nothing. If you've got a small car you might go down by 50 per cent. If you have an average car, your charge will probably go down a bit or up a bit.

"But … if you've got a large Jag (Jaguar) for example, you'll be paying 200 per cent more."
Envirofascism gets ramped up another level. Do they realise that electric cars use electric which isn't excatly carbon neutral? People with their own driveways will be fine of course, so again it's the less well of that gets hit as usual.

All this on the back of junk science.

Daft idea, I agree.
It's not the science that's junk. It's the logic that falls apart given any degree of scrutiny. If you want to penalise on the basis of pollution then penalise on the basis of the pollution. Parked vehicles don't produce pollution.

Default

What data are these people using? Because a report a few weeks back actually showed that a Grand Cherokee is more carbon neutral than a Prius. And the most carbon neutral vehicle you can buy is... ...wait for it... ...A Jeep Wrangler.

There ya go:
