Default Re: Christian voice -their boss has been arrested. why ????

[quote="Tom Wilde"]Nobody should ever be arrested for handing out leaflets, and if I was certain that that was the whole story then I'd stand beside him for his next protest. However, this guy is the publicity freak whose Christian Voice supporters allegedly made death threats against BBC executives for screening Jerry Springer - The Opera. I also notice that the press release says :

Quote:
Mr Green was kept in the cells at Cardiff Police Station for over four hours before being charged with using 'threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby, contrary to section 5(1) and (6) of the Public Order Act 1986'.
Given his reputation as a publicity-junkie, an unworthy suspicion is lurking in my cranium that possibly Mr Green set out to get himself arrested. I could be utterly wrong, of course. [quote]

There is a precedent I think. A student with a couple or three under his belt inn Oxford town centre one evening asked a Mounted Policeman if the rozzer knew that the horse he was astride was gay. He was warned but he repeated the question. He was promptly nicked, so one doesn't have to stray at all far from what normal people regard as 'normal' to get one's collar felt. The charge used was that referred to above.

How did Oxfordshire Police know the horse felt harrased, alarmed or distressed ? Did it tell them ? And what if the horse really was gay ?

If one were to not shave for a couple of weeks, put on a towel and hand out leaflets about gays containing passages from the Koran what would the police do if they had a complaint... Probably lose control of their bowels!

The man is a lunatic and should be locked up. the only thing that annoys me is that 'our' lunatics seem to get sorted out by the police a lot more effeciantly than the other lot!

Maybe if the police don't do anything about the other lot then there is an argument for citizen's arrests?

You can't do that, there's a law that says you can't protest within 1100 yards of Parliament! Its for our glorious dictator's benifit, you know!
