Default Fireball death crash: Merc was stolen from cop

Quote:
A POLICE officer could face disciplinary action over comments he reportedly made about the car thief who stole his Mercedes and died in a fireball crash. Kevin Scarth, an officer with Humberside police, told a reporter he had "no sympathy" for the thief, who was killed when the C-class Mercedes hit a tree by the Formby bypass in the early hours of Monday morning and burst into flames.

The car and an Audi A3 were stolen from the police officer's Little Altcar home after burglars took the keys, bank cards, cash and a warrant card. Within hours both vehicles had been involved in horrific accidents.

The Mercedes crashed into a tree and burst into flames after leaving the Formby bypass, close to the Lighthouse roundabout, shortly after 1am. A 16-year-old girl scrambled free from the wreckage despite serious injuries, but the driver died.

But the ECHO understands Mr Scarth, 46, could face misconduct charges for the comments he made. He told the ECHO's sister paper, the Daily Post, yesterday: "I have no sympathy for them. I feel sorry for his parents and for the girl's parents, but not for them. I am not bothered about what has happened to them."

I'm 100% with the officer on this one.

I only feel sympathy for the guy who has lost his car.
