Default Cross of St George flag banned in Barking

From The Daily Telegraph, 6th May 2006, page 8, In Brief section.

It doesn't appear in the on-line version, so here's the whole article.

Quote:
Flag Banned.

Firemen in Barking, Essex, have been banned from flying the Cross of St. George during the World Cup for fear of offending Ethnic minorities.

If any ethnic minorities are offended by the St George Cross then they need to go find themselves another country to live in. Simple as that.

Of course, it's mostly not the ethnic minorities who're offended - it's the lefties who think the minorities are offended (or, indeed, the lefties themselves who're offended and looking for any excuse).

It's bonkers. Who can get offended by a flag?

It's a thoroughly modern and peculier affliction this, and as John says it's probably lefties

Perhaps we could campaign on the grounds that we find the EU 'flag' offensive?

I certainly find it offensive: the EU emblem is a non sense.

The EU is a mere political entity yet its emblem has a religious foundation and is forced upon us on our personal documents as an advertisement for itself while those who hold such documents are considered to be citizens of this entity.

Yes, it is a most offensive thingo indeed and I don't want it in may face anymore - it disgusts me.

The EU flag offends me in much the same way as a swastika, as do the Labour party emblems. I feel my human rights being violated every time I see them.

I think HM Opposition on Barking and Dagenham Council might have something to say about that.

This ban sounds like something that's been ordered by a leftist, trade unionist and anti-right wing person and/or anti-English political troublemaker.

I should like to see a law brought in which prohibits any attempt to supress the national symbols of England or the English. I bet the Welsh, Northern Irish or Scottish don't have to put up with this sort on nonsense.
