It's all over:

Seized gollies returned to store

Police in Herefordshire say they will not be charging a store owner after removing three toy golliwogs from his shop window.

The toys were removed from a display at Pettifer's, Bromyard, after a passer-by complained they were offensive.

Officers said the items will be returned but store owner Donald Reynolds will be advised about the sensitivities of displaying them.

Mr Reynolds said he would continue to sell them.

He said he had not received any complaints about the toys, which had been on display for two weeks, before they were seized.

'Good sellers'

He decided to sell them after altering his shop to include gifts for sale.

"I thought they would be good sellers and they were.

"Within ten minutes of putting them out I sold two of them," he said.

West Mercia Police said the toys were seized under section 5 of the Public Order Act which makes it an offence to display anything which could be deemed as threatening, abusive or insulting.

It added no further action would be taken.

We could see the whole PC brigade swamped by thousands of complaints from Catholics saying they are insulted by condoms on sale or display and from muslims saying butchers are selling pork products and from Indians saying butchers were selling beef products and leather from cows being used in our furniture, sport and clothing industries.

What a mess it would create, however, something can be said for tying the PC Mob down with tens of thousands of rediculous complaints like these.

I propose we instigate a movement to report all such things as these daily,in their millions if possible, serves them damned right, easy to do as well.

Bet I could drum up 10 complaints without even trying, ten butchers selling/displaying pork, ten shop.....condoms,thats twenty to be going on with.

Great publicity for the shop. If he's astute he'll have several hundred more on order now.
Firstly, I don't believe all this 'passer by' stuff. Rubbish. 'Passers by' don't call the police because they've seen a golliwog in a window. An over zealous policeman saw them.
Secondly, according to that article they can only be a problem if they are considered insulting. Now, personally, I think the things are horrible and ugly, but that's just me. If people are going to say black dolls are insulting, then all dolls are insulting.
Thirdly, is the BBC in breech of section 5 of the Public Order Act every time they show footage of Tony Blair?

We should be offended at things too now. They do that because they know it is the drip, drip, drip, damaging death by a thousand cuts. Those who look for offence in everything that we do should feel the wrath of the wind that they reap.

Also, the BBC story has changed since I last saw it and posted it (sorry I should have checked!), it said something about the police giving the owner advice on displaying the golliwogs, in other words lecturing him on the penalties for inciting racism, ie, putting the frighteners on him.

Really, the PC mob are playing with fire.

But who do thes toys offend? I have never met a single colured person who was offended by one, or a muslim or resented piggybanks, was offended by christmas carols etc.

The truth is that people from our own culture are sitifleing it.

Agreed. Terrifying thing is that these pc lunatics are in charge of our schools, police, councils etc.

Recruiting army for the BNP. Don't the idiots realise this. Or is it some secret agenda like a play I saw years ago where the police go round beating up right wingers. Turns out they are far right supporters.

Twighlight Zone music starts to play !
