Default Kinnock not representative of the Welsh

Kinnock has done more damage to the image of Wales and the Welsh people than anyone else I can think of. The fact that a light-weight like Kinnock managed to become Vice-Chairman of the EU Commission also further harmed the already tarnished international image of the EU Commission (I am pleased to say). Hopefully he now do equal damage to the Metric Campaign or whatever name those europhiles are hiding behind  .

I have no problem with "harmonisation" where it brings benefits.

In my field I have seen changes that are positively dangerous. Potentially lethal.

It all has to be weighed up for sure.

There are many benefits that could be listed for harmosing the world INTO phpbb_speaking English. Would I expect countries to do so? Would I hell!

I don't know for sure, but I suspect that English is the most commonly used language worldwide.

Default English spoken in a record number of countries

I think English is the first or second language of more countries than any other language. This wouldn't change if China had ten times its present population. Chinese is largely confined to China and a couple of other nations (Taiwan and Singapore). I also understand that over 100 million people in China are learning English as their first foreign language - thus increasing the overall total worldwide for English.

This all makes Chirac's pathetic walkout in Brussels last week all the more futile and, in a way, quite sad.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language

"English is currently the most widely spoken and written language worldwide,"

But:
http://www.krysstal.com/spoken.html

Lists it as Mandarin. I'm not so sure about that. Of the areas it lists where it is spoken it includes Taiwan. Last time I was there Fukkien was mostly what was spoken. In Hong Kong it is mainly Cantonese. [/url]
