The tax office have stopped issuing receipts when you hand in an assessment form. Now I am not in any way cynical or anything  but could this be a ploy ? If you don't have a receipt you can't prove you handed in the form on time. Therefore you get a £100 pound fine. Like I say, i'm not a cynic or anything.
My business partner got on the phone to them and was told, "All the Inland Revenue's staff have had an e-mail telling them not to hand out receipts". A cynical ploy to rip off tax payers for £100. And the scum who run this country wonder why people don't vote ! |

I got a letter the day before yesterday thanking me for sending in estimated income on which to base tax credits. My partner received the same. Neither of us has written to the offices concerned. A couple of years ago my accountant had a receipt, but they still denied ever having the tax return. They lost 3 tax return forms before giving me my refund. Last year I owed them money, but they still lost 2 forms. Half my tax seems to be wasted collecting the tax in the firt place.
