Seems Birmingam university have frozen the bank account of a student Christian organization.
"Students ban Chrsitians in row over Gays" is the banner.

Any thoughts?

kind regards...
Outrageous. Typical of today's 'tolerant' society though. No doubt the members of the Guild of Students vote Lib Dem.

A lot of Christian Student Groups don't join the Student Union due to the reason highlighted in this article, intolerance.

Students! straight out of the cot, a diet of musili, beer and the Guardian and then putting the world to rights with absolutes and certainties.

We were all a little like that though so one cannot be too hard on em.

I never went to university and in the Grim days at the end of the 70's - start of the 80's things were not good.

no one was taking apprentices any more No one wanted to Invest, the game evolved in to buying ailing businesses and stripping the assets for sale.

The old Industries were about to be shaken up and slimmed down to survive. old established working practices were about to be dismantled and the unions were about to get a shock that was to change the way they would work to this day.

For a young lad Queing at building sites as the gangers chose casual labour for the day quickly lost appeal as did production lines and various dead end jobs (what there were of them).

You promised your mam not to go down the pit (coal mine) and a failed test disqualified you from a life sailing around the world with the Pongoes club.

"Join the Professionals said the Ad", What a good Idea, A job that you were still going to have tomorrow, regular pay, free nosebag, free kit, cool toys and learn to drive - for free.

Lichfield - Catterick (what a sh**Hole)- pirbright- Deep cut Just along the road - aldershot- etc etc etc.

The point of this though is after a 20 year reality check involving a life in the orient, many adventures, many mistakes, much learned usually the hard way, hurt at deaths of loved ones, and a creeping realisation that there are no definites or certainties, one starts to see things for what they really are. many things i had felt certain about turned out to be wrong.. frequently. The young lad i was 20 years ago knew Sh**t diddley about anything.

Contrast this then with the Student, A brain the size of a planet, the common sense of a stunned fish who knows absolutely loads and hasn't done much in the way of working at a real job before finding his/her way INTO phpbb_politics.

learning to Bulls**t ones way around the arena and beginning that important love affair with the news camera takes one in to the world of hard spin and mixed metaphors. No one says what they really think, and practice telling the audience what they think the audience want to hear.

they learn to avoid questions and repeat words like "more" and "better" applying them to nouns like hospitals and schools but.. always what they plan to do and not what has been done.

They learn to reel off meaningless sentences when caught out by skillful interveiwers trying to trick them in to contradicting the latest party line....
....
..... "We shall endevour to persevere" (Tom King).... "We are floating a whole raft of proposals" (Jack Straw)...... "More people are getting more of less than ever before" (cecil parkinson) .........."Higher prices mean cheaper electricity for everyone" (cecil again)......"the lady is not for turning" (no prizes).

They practice to sound sincere and sombre after a disaster even before the details are known, everyone gobbing off the same meaningless **** on the theme of.. " shocked, stunned, and appalled"..... "Dreadfull Shocking events"....."Horrified and appalled"....... "Stunned and saddened......terribly shocked etc and the time honoured " of course... our hearts go out to the families of the victims...blah "tragic time" blah..."Demand a full public enquiry".blah...."taking on board peoples concerns" blah... "we are ready to listen"........ "and of course we must ensure that all the lessons are learned"...

Meaningless babble to court favourable opinion becomes second nature and
Writing things like Its a good day to bury bad news gives an excellent view of the way these professional manipulators operate and the contempt held for the targets of the manipulation.

Political correctness is the child of social engineering out of control. started by the manipulators, perpetuated by the fear of deamonisation, Fed by self obsessed human rights groups and aided and abbetted by the "never had a job and went straight in to politics" brigade.

meanwhile the real victims being sacked, prosecuted and/or forced INTO phpbb_handing over huge compensation payments perpetuate the phenomenon to yet another level fearfully trying to avoid further punishing prosecution at all costs. Pc hype infects our country like a disease.

I keep getting these sudden urges to draw some cartoons...

Excuse me, I am a student, and my 'diet' consists of regular products, not muesli, beer - sometimes vodka, and The Times. I don't vote Fib Dem either, I vote Tory.
