Default Wetherspoons try a bit of nannying.

I was out for a drink with some old work chums last night. We usualy start off in Wetherspoons for a reasonable meal and drink, before heading on to somewhere a bit more lively.

Wetherspoons had banned smoking a while back, but as their custom fell through the floor, so they have gone back to having a small non-smoking section and a large smokers section. The non-smoking section was nearly empty, while the smokers section was packed! So we had a nice bit of room to ourselves.

After the failure of that first bit of nannying, you would thing they might give in and let the customer make his/her choices. Nope, they have a new policy, which may have good intentions, but really is a farce.

To warm up for the evening, we decided to have one round of TVR's (Tequila, Vodka and Redbull). However, Wetherspoons have banned mixing drinks! The bar tender advised us to buy them seperatley and mix them ourselves!

What the hell is the point of that?

At a guess, it might be to protect themselves from a government crackdown on binge-drinking?

I have also heard that mixing red bull and vodka can be dangerous health wise, as it stops the liver breaking down alcohol?

I'm not really sure why they've done it, perhaps a letter might reveal more?

I prefer the motoring kind.

In one! However, what is the point if you can just order the singles and make your own!
