Following Alex's comment I checked further
The full racist pc madness is on open display on the A&S website. It has to be read to be believed ! They make clear that if you are not on the arbitary tick box list get lost.
see www.avonandsomerset.police.uk - click "newsroom" (LHS) , select "top stories" then view "positive action leads to positive results"
Also through recruitment of police officers you can get to an application form with an equal opportunities page to fill in.
It clearly says:-
"This information will be treated with the strictest confidence and will not affect your job application in any way" and
".. this will not be available to those assessing your application" and
" No applicant is treated less favourably .. on grounds of race, colour ..etc"
So
a) Avon & Somerset police are lying - they are opening the ethnic part of the application form to decide which colour they want.
b) A & S police have no intention of obeying their own rules that colour will not lead to less favourable treatment
c) A & S has total contempt for the principles of equal opportunity

Also on the site is current vacancies which can be applied for on line.

So guys whatever you are doing now , it is time to start applying for 2 jobs - on one tell the truth on the "equal opportunities form" on the other make up exactly what they want to hear. If you are not invited to an interview for the first but are for the second then it is time to use the formal industrial complaint procedure in which maximum damages can be claimed ( to donate to fight pc) and A&S police humiliated.

In the meantime, if you live in the area and you are worried about crime dont expect fair treatment from the police. - see the way crime etc statistics are shown elsewhere on the website.

By the way I am looking for someone for my firm and would like a BOLLY
( black one legged lesbian yuppy) as this will fulfill most of the "affirmative action criteria", so I am eligible to get priority in ghovernment contracts. She doesnt have to have any experience. No whites please unless you are INTO phpbb_donkeys ( + 3 points for that ).

POLICE RACISM IN ACTION
SAnother snippet . A&S police have a massive "race equality scheme" document and associated monitoring in incredible detail by all staff ( surprising they any time for policing ) this almost goes as far as recording average number of bog rolls being used by white versus "BME" (not white staff). Interesting bits are :-
a) The A&S action is in massive violation with the wordage of its own race equality scheme ( though they will no doubt say "ah but")
b) The arbitary categories mean if you dont fit the choice of boxes you are in the wilderness and can be ignored
c) The whole thing is obsessed with white versus non white in such detail that it is becoming on the verge of a religion ( or witchcraft) . It assumes that if whites use more bog rolls than non white it is discrimination requiring an action plan for senior officers to study, draw up a plan and act.
c) Applications for police July-September from "BMEs" was 5.5% of total.
Notably the % of BMEs in the police area is only 3.44% This means in % terms whites are under- represented in police applicants.

In a common sense society we could say "so what - colour is unimportant" .
A white rights guy would say "AFFIRMATIVE ACTION FOR WHITES NOW" !
A& S Alice in wonderland response is " GET RID OF MORE WHITES" !

I've always though that 'Positive Discrimination' (if there can be such a thing) and 'Affirmative Action' are a very bad idea.

They exacerbate racial tensions and harm community relations. They also feed extremist groups such as the BNP.

Who is to say that X% of ethnic minorities want to be Police Officers/Civil Servants/MPs or other Public Sector workers anyway?

We should live in a society where people succeed on merit, not race, sexual orientation or any other irrelevant factor.

It's also extremley patronising to those receiving the "positive" disrimination. They know they got the job because of prejudice. How ironic!

Of course when there is blatant prejudice shown by the police or whoever in their recruiment practise, then that shouldn't go without investigation.

No, of course not. But investigation and justice being done via the courts is a lot different than an interventionist government trying to enforce ethnic quotas.

Some people criticise the UK for it's 'racist' past, but what is 'Positive Discrimination' but racism in disguise?
