It really is b*ll*cks. The sad thing is the guy will probably get away with it. The result will be an add on cost for British business. Every firm with a mixed employee base will have to write to every department in the company pointing out the ruling, one way or the other. All the Xmas draws that have alcohol prizes will probably swap them for something else. People will stop offering raffle prizes of booze to be on the safe side. Bottle stalls will be reduced to lemonade and HP sauce.

The reality is the guy is a chancer and is taking the Michael. I do not believe for one moment that he is offended. I've been to the pub with a Muslim friend. He drank orange juice, but wasn't upset by my standing next to him drinking a pint. Why would he be?

Did you know that 85% of this country's Indian restaurants are owned by Bangla Deshi Muslims. Can you get a pint of lager with your curry? Do the people who serve you your lager panic at the thought that they might accidentally get alcohol on their hands? Are they offended by making a pound a pint on the lager? Cases like the one highlighted make me mad.

Default Muslim loses wine discrimination claim

Telegraph
Quote:
A Muslim salesman who took offence when his company, Direct Line Insurance, offered alcohol as an incentive lost a claim yesterday for religious discrimination.

Imran Khan, 25, from Bristol, had claimed at an employment tribunal that the bottles of wine on offer put him at a disadvantage because, as a Muslim, he could not drink alcohol and could not claim the prizes.

British-born Mr Khan sought damages for "hurt feelings" but the panel chairman, Clive Toomer, rejected his claim. He said a teetotal non-Muslim would have been in the same position.
Ha!
