I suspect that lots of businesses have no passionate kissing rules regardless of sexual orientation. The odd peck on arrival or departure or over the champagne and oysters is normally okay, but as pointed out, it is the owners of private businesses who should make their own rules. It goes for smoking as well - I won't eat in cafes or restaurants that allow smoking, but accept it in bars where there is no food. That's my choice; it shouldn't be up to the nanny state to make laws for such things. It's not about human rights or anything like that. Like a lot of people I would leave a cafe or restaurant that had people doing heavy petting at the next table. The management of a lot of establishments know that they would lose business so don't allow certain things that put off their particular clientele.

Unless I am mistaken the Sexual Offences Act is only concerned with consenting adults in private. Public displays of homosexual activity are still illegal, or put another way not legalised. The difficulty here is, that whatever we do as a country regarding social behaviour legislation, we a stuck with human rights legislation from the EU. Whether or not we mind homosexual activity in public seems not to matter. We now appear to have no choice. Happy camping!

As an heterosexual male I don't like to see heterosexual couples "eating face" in public, I can't think of anything much more repulsive than seeing two 'blokes' doing the same. So what about my human rights having to put up with it.

komerad I don't understand the comment! Lost on me. :? The law, as I understand it, applies only to consenting adults in private and the only between two people. If I'm wrong then let me know! You seem to be implying you do know something else!
My point about human rights laws is that they appear to override anything we do in this country on social matters. Where's the senility in all this, or have I lost your plot as well!?! |
