Why should companies have unhealthy people, more prone to illness and tiredness? More likely to bust their chairs and more likely to clear the vending machines, thus depriving others! What next? Moaning about discrimination against the unqualified? How about discrimination against skivers, incomptents and criminally insane? Sorry but if you are struggling to get a job because you are too fat, then get some excercise and leave off the cream cakes.

I know I am not the ideal weight but I think that there are some people who are too fat to be considered. Most weight issues are brought about by lack of personal discipline such as overeating and no exercise. If there are people who lack the discipline to look after their own bodies given the information about weight and other health problems, how can an employer be assured that they have the discipline to be a good and productive employee? There are other reasons for being overweight, legitimate medical reasons, most are lack of exercise and overindulgence of food.

Tough one this there are different reasons why people are overweight some genetic and some just greedy ******** either way it should bear no reflection on your ability to do the job.
There is only one criteria that should be considered when employing people and that is, are they capable of doing the job satisfactorily. The trouble is fat people are probably discriminated against because of stereotyping, they are lazy they don’t care about themselves etc. Okay you’re not going to give a fat person a job of running the marathon but I’ve seen quite a few fat politicians in my time. The trouble is we’re human beings and we like to be surrounded by beautiful things, So most PAs are slim not fair just part of life. |

We had to walk to school, not travel in luxury in the family car.
I cringe when I go INTO phpbb_town and see the obese youngsters, stuffing their faces with burgers whilst mooching around the shopping centre. Young mothers with their trousers around their arses, waddling along giving the kids crisps and other goodies. If only they could see themselves from behind  The schools have sold off a lot of playing fields, sport is now a couch potato sport, not a participating sport. No wonder we have a fat, overweight problem. |

I think televisions and the video games played on them are a major factor.
Kids have always like troughing out on sweets and cakes. Hell, kids used to eat suet puddings, dripping on toast and loads of pies in the old days. In the old days though, you didn't have the idiot box or playstation to amuse you, so you when out scrumping, playing football, swimming in the canal or whatever else you could think of. My Dad tells me many stories of the fun/mischeive he used to get up too and he used to eat icecream by the bowl as a kid. Now kids are wrapped in cotton wool and not allowed to go near canals or anywhere slightly dangerous. They having nothing else to do and the T.V and playstation are an easy option. I think focusing on food is missing the real problem of no excercise.

MKP quoted above:
Workers who are overweight find it harder to get a job than slim people, suggesting "hidden" discrimination, a report claims. (End of Quote) My reply: I think prejudice against large/overweight people is a disgrace. This shabby government of 'Tony' B-liar is encouraging bad feeling against overweight people by its 'nanny state' attitude. We are supposed to live in a free country and it is up to the people themselves to decide what foods on sale are suitable from those that are not. They do not need the metro-elite (half of whom who are on drugs) to tell them how to eat healthily. |
