I did the same to be honest. They screwed up, charged me for it and wouldn't go back on it. I had been banking with them since I was a kid too.

Good on that man!

Shame on the banks in question.
Agreed.

just putting another slant on it

Quote:
Remember the political-correctness-gone-mad story about the Halifax and Nat West banning piggy banks so as not to offend Muslims? The Daily Express led with it, as did several internet news sources and a few of the more intemperate blogs.

Well, Australian Mediawatch reveals that it wasn’t true.

The Halifax press office said in an email to Mediawatch:

Quote:
Halifax has not withdrawn any piggy banks from branches. As a matter of fact we have not used piggy banks in our branches for a number of years.
And the media relations office of the Nat West wrote:

Quote:
There is absolutely no fact in the story. We simply had a UK wide savings marketing campaign, which included pictures of piggy banks, running until the end of September.
Piggy banks have been and will continue to be used as a promotional item by NatWest

Which just goes to show you shouldn’t believe everything you read in the Daily Express, and that blogs can sometimes contain factual inaccuracies. Who’d have thought it?
oh and of course the source

Scotsgirl. Nobody believes what they read in the Mail and the Express. I think you underestimate the intelligence of the British people. They just read them for amusement and derision.

Well if you think the Mail and the Express are bad, what about The Sun and The Daily Mirror!?

Scotgirl, do you read The Guardian by any chance?

The highest quality of people read the Sun and Star as light refreshment and to look at the pictures.

For example ask any Officer in the forces which papers are most popular then the answer will be the Torrygraph, the Times and the Currant Bun.

AlasI am in their magnigicant company no longer and have been forced to read the FT (yawn) for job reasons. I suppose the mail would be useful if the worlds andrex supply ran out.
