From the official website:
Some of Britain’s finest minds agree with UKIP’s sceptical stance on man-made climate change.
In a debate at the Oxford Union on May 20, an audience of tomorrow’s top decision makers heard from a range of noted climate change experts but were swayed by UKIP’s eco spokesman Christopher Monckton.
Lord Monckton argued that the warming effect of CO2 was far less dramatic than previously predicted and showed that even if all the world’s industry was shut down for the next 40 years global temperatures would only decrease by one degree.
The exchange became heated when Lord Monckton repeatedly demanded that Labour Peer and trade unionist Lord Whitty state where his figures to support the argument for man-made global warming had come from. Lord Whitty’s response was to sit down saying, “everyone knows it’s true.”
But when the eco-warriors tried to return fire by asking where Lord Monckton’s evidence came from he drew cheers from the audience, stating: “IPCC, 2007, chapter 10, box 10.2”
The motion – ‘This house would put economic growth before combating climate change’ – was carried by 135 votes to 110.
Speaking afterwards, Lord Monckton said: “The world’s brightest students are finally getting fed up with all the groundless extremist propaganda getting rammed down their throats by people who seem to think they are stupid.
“For years, those set to profit from the ever-increasing number of eco policies have pulled the wool over the public and government’s eyes, but as soon as you pit them against the academic elite, all their arguments unravel.”
The result is a major boost for UKIP, whose climate-change policy has previously been attacked by the green band-wagon.
Twenty six of Britain’s Prime Ministers were educated at Oxford, including David Cameron, Tony Blair, Margaret Thatcher and Harold Wilson. But it seems the country’s future rulers agree with UKIP’s long-held views.

And they loved Kermit the Frog when he spoke there, as well!
I am delighted that UKIP has posted this week old "story" on its website as a response to my own posting Debunking "Lord" Monckton
It is nice to know that what I do when I have a spare 5 minutes can cause the UK's number two party so much stress. I hope that the fork lift truck driver and the chubby gal also enjoy the repartee!
Is a feeble crack about Kermit the Frog all you can offer? You are down on your luck, today mr charlie endell, because Lord Monckton won this debate, and it is a significant victory.
The fact that the press and TV have all chosen to ignore the event is another proof of how blatantly biassed they are.
Without the internet, wewould have little hope of finding out the truth about anything.
By the way Monckton is a genuine hereditary peer, unlike the corrupt Labour life-peers Snape, Moody and Mandelson.
Monica Shelley: With the rise of Hitler, that same same Oxford Union voted in 1933, that 'This House will in no circumstances fight for its King and Country'. That motion was passed. (275 to 153) In 1939, older and armed with more knowledge, they found that circumstances cause radical changes in opinions: something which was overlooked in the original motion. Would you give any more credence to Monckton's 'victory'? Intelligence is frequently the illegitimate child of truth.
Agreed. Lawson is not a loose cannon.
Eureka: What we are seeing is very significant. The Lib-Con coalition are intending to create 100 new peers. You can take a good guess/bet that many will include ex-hereditary peers 'expelled' from the House. We see a number of former 'ex-hereditaries' becoming 'limelight Charlies' all of a sudden. It will be interesting to see how many will re-appear as Life Peers. When this Act became law in the 1960s', I said that it was not all that radical, for those reliquishing their TITLE can reappear with a new title. A college warden said that prediction could be safely dismissed as a 'Collierism'. Within a short time Home was back in the Lords, as was Hailsham and one or two others. Those hereditaries who got 'expelled' are angry and they expect a Conservative government to help them. Help will soon be at hand.
In England little changes; but much moves in circles.
