UKIP poster 'is offensive'THE UK Independence Party candidate for Gloucester has moved to distance himself from the party's new campaign poster.
UKIP has unveiled it's new poster featuring the faces of Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg alongside the slogan “Sod the lot”.
Mike Smith, UKIP Candidate for Gloucester believes the poster is offensive.
He said: “Having just seen the latest poster unveiled by the UK Independence Party today, I wish to totally disassociate myself from it.
“I regard the language used as completely inappropriate and offensive.
“Moreover, I wish to apologise, in advance, to the citizens of Gloucester in case it should appear on our streets.
“This poster does not represent the many hard- working members of the UK Independence Party who have many positive messages to shout from the rooftops.
“Messages such as taking all on minimum wage out of Income Tax; supporting our Armed Forces and many more.
“We don't need to descend to the levels of campaigning of the old failed parties.”
It's a brilliant poster. I think our candidate could be a politically correct wet blanket.
My other half saw it and thought that it was both rude and childish. It is a poster that will appeal to some and put off others.

I think you are talking out of your ****.
Mike Smith has been tirelessly campaigning for UKIP for a very long time. He was the chairman of Gloucester branch when I joined and was still the chairman when I left, over 4 years later. He is still the chairman of the branch. He is a true stalwart of your party.
Like so many of us who have been involved with UKIP he is long-suffering but unlike many of us he is still a member and active campaigner for your party.
You should be ashamed of your ill-conceived attack against this man.
Perhaps if UKIP actually took some notice of the views of it's candidates it might avoid such messes.
Anything I post on this web forum is my personal opinion only.
Yes I agree with the UKIP man, it is a totally embarrassing poster and flies in the face of everything the party is trying its hardest to achieve. To me it seems to say it is OK to dumb this country down some more.
Does anyone know whose idea it was, because if I were running things then that would be my first question? Perhaps they work for the Labour Party. I don’t even think the BNP would manage something like that. They are more on the three piggies in a trough kind of thing, which does actually have some sort of sense behind it. This has none at all.

It's the word 'sod' that I dislike. Could not a more, ahem, polite term have been found?
So dedicated, hard-working UKIP members are never wrong?
If anyone is offended by the word "SOD" then I suggest they are over-sensitive and have their priorities wrong.
Be offended by the EU monster causing havoc in Britain.
Be offended by out of control immigration.
Be offended by our freedoms being eroded by the Lib-Lab-Consensus.
Be offended by young troops coming home in body-bags from Afghanistan.
But, please, don't be offended by the word sod.
'Sod The Lot' is a great catchphrase. Lord P repeated it on live TV last night.
I thought it was an abbreviation for an act of homosexuality myself. Only party faithfuls will think like the above. What we have to do is to look reasonable and moderate enough to win over the drifters. You can be moderate and strong-willed at the same time though, so it is important not to mix the two concepts up. If I were in charge I would quietly withdraw that poster and get a better one printed up.

I personally think in terms of the language I have used about the Eu and this government the word sod is rather quaint, I dont have a problem with the poster it goes to the heart of how many people feel about the establishement and I hope the electorate does tell them to sod off on May 6.

The trouble with dumbing the debate down is that you end up with people so absolutely thick that they would vote for Nick Clegg. I'm not talking about fictional scenarios either. This man wants us to join a euro that is cracking up at the moment. He should know about that, as his father was a banker. So he is doing it on purpose.
You know that, I know that but what of the rest of the country? Apparently they are easily hoodwinked, and that is very dangerous indeed. It's like all they have to do is offer the electorate a few sweeties out of their own money and they are anyone's. That is the price you pay for dumb. It works wonders if you are trying to defraud someone, indeed the dumber the better, but the UKIP are trying to bust the fraud, hence we need the opposite. We have to educate people and lift them out of their slumber. This poster is telling them not to bother. I mean don’t just take my word for it, read what the public is saying. They don’t like it and the public is king, even if they don’t behave that way very often, it is their decision and their responsibility how this country turns out.
