It's a council by-election, so its perfectly possible. How strong is the local branch?
WANSTEAD: More parties to stand in by-election (From East London and West Essex Guardian Series)
Circulated email to YI members said that UKIP expects second [place] and is hopeful about first.MORE political parties have said they hope to field a candidate in the upcoming Wanstead by-election.
The UK Independence Party (UKIP) have said they will stand, while Libertas UK are also strongly rumoured.
Clarification: To be absolutely clear, this is a council by-election. Hope noone was confused.

Barkingside 21: Wanstead By-Election Called
There is apparently some disappointment with the local Tory administration.
Not sure about the UKIP branch strength (Google yields no obvious results as of yet) but the candidate is Nick Jones, who got 5th place in the 2005 general election. (591 votes).
****. Sorry. Completely pointless thread that belongs in "Elections" anyways.
Forgive me
Np , The other byelection is in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. Looks like we will get a good show came second last time I think and the campaign apprantly is way head of any other party. With our boards out numbering theres 20-1.
If we dont win the above , there is another by-election next month in our strongest area two horse between Labour and UKIP. Torys and Liberal Democrats not contesting. From last years results we where around 100 votes short of taking the seat and that was the Tory vote last time so....
UKIP isn't going to be winning any by-elections anywhere.
UKIP only rarely polls over 10%, when it bothers to contest by-elections.
Thank you for that... It is obviously contesting by-elections. Onions and I just mentioned three, and the two he brought up (because he doesn't get confused by English town/shire/parish/whatever names like I do) are ones UKIP has a good chance of winning. So clearly the party could actually be going to winning by-elections, somewhere.UKIP isn't going to be winning any by-elections anywhere.

Thats pretty encouraging! Im trying to find out if there are things I can do via internet to volunteer, another recent email mentioned that internet training seminar so YI can be put to good use. Being in teh US can make things difficult.Np , The other byelection is in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. Wins at these could also prove very beneficial for the Euros.
The local rag you Wanstead were clearly behind the times, the nominations closed noon on 25/3. For completely separate reasons, I had already checked with the Council election Officer.
