Default Has DCB been gagged by Ind-Dem employment?

I hear DCB is now an Ind-Dem employee with email etc. and all associated restrictions on writing, campaigning etc.

Can anyone confirm?

I can confirm that he is on the European Parliament's system as 'David Bannerman'.

This is interesting, as the EP ignore affectations, and go by birth certificates and passports, and so that may answer some speculation. No hyphen. No Campbell. Just David Bannerman.

I worked for Ind Dem for 4 years. I can tell you that as an EP employee he cannot publish anything without the permission of the instututions, and will never be given permission to publish anything prejudicial to the interests of the EU.

On campaigning... he will not be allowed to campaign for anybody unless he takes leave to do so, and he cannot stand as a candidate himself unless he gets permission from the EU institutions, and takes unpaid leave.

A funny position for the Deputy Leader of UKIP to find himself in.....

Guess he'll take advantage of the generous leave allowance in Brussels.

..... he could always relinquish his deputy leadership role , seeing as he is employed elsewhere, and cant do the job properly.

But.....
Does he have to seek permission to resign ?????

The Leader and the Deputy Leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party both work in Brussels. If things go according to plan the new Chairman will work there as well. Why not just move the party HQ there lock stock and barrel?

Is there any mechanism by which we, the membership, can remove these people from office? If not, then there should be...

Or so says GC. Well up to a point Lord Copper. GC has himself published stuff that I doubt has had the permission from the authorities, as have I. All of which I hope has brought the institution into direpute. Good, and long may that last. DCB is an agent contractuel, thus he will be able to have far greater freedom of movement than even I do. And frankly nobody has ever suggested I wind my neck in, which given they read my papers for the Bruges Group, the European Jpurnal, and not least my blog, would suggest that this rule is hardly if ever applied, a long as you stick to facts.

On campaigning, well DCB will have to apply to the same rules as I. We await a final ruling as to how long before an election that we have to take leave of absense, unpiad. In my case as a salaried employee, it is likely in the event of not being elected I may well be able to get my job back - but of course that depends on what happens, not something I could guarantee.

DCB is working on a specific project to be completed well before the election, a project that when finished will I hope provide the members of this forum with plenty of ammunition to go out and show up the established parties as the hypocrites they are during the campaign.

He is unlikely to be spending much time over here, but when he does he has access to both the documentation required for the project and an office and IT stuff necessary to do the job.

Sounds awful to me.

From this forum the only response will be condemnation of DCB and UKIP.

Pro-EU parties and politicians receive a surprising lack of criticism here.
