As I stated above, I believe it is UKIP headed for oblivion. The EDP is hardly a black hole and comparing Veritas with EDP is not comparing like with like. Veritas was another one of many parties clinging to the belief that people will rally to the concept of the UK. The end of the UK was recently illustated by the homecoming parades for the Olympians. People in Scotland and Wales were both able to fete their Olympians in their own capital cities. Not one Union Flag in sight. (Nothing at all organised for the English athletes). The Union Flag is now only seen in England. The future for England has to be an English Party (even if this has to be an amalgam of the English parts of some of the Unionist parties). |

The breaking up of the UK plays right into the EU hands and they would just love that to happen. 'Divide and Conquer'. I too am English but I am also British and I recognise the strength of our Union here on this Island. We must use that strength. The Union flag does fly in Scotland proudly - Rangers. Our Union have died and fought alongside each other. The Scottish friends I have do not want to see an Independent Scotland. They also think their parliament building in Edinburgh is a disgrace. I do not want to see an Independant England because it also weakens us. Given the vote on Independence from our Union I am convinced the Scottish would vote against it and confirm their will to continue part of the UK.

I think the English and Scots have a great affinity with eachother and to a great extent are the same people. However we are where we are, if no-one stands for England then England will be split into Regions before we get a chance to have a democratic vote on an English Parliament. |

Moe, thank you for accepting the Rangers point, it makes debate and discussion worthwhile when this occurs. I feel frustrated with the UK issue and have in my frustration toyed with going down the EDP route. However my love for the Union Flag and the blood that has been spilt over it, compels me to fight for its survival. I am convinced without it we lose.
I do accept that England does not celebrate its pride and this needs to be addressed. There are far too many discrepancies that apply in different areas of the UK which rightly creates anger. I also accept that certainly in the light of recent events posted on this forum UKIP may well be stagnating and this is a cause of concern because there is no other party that I can seriously ally myself with. Maybe leaders of the smaller parties should call for an alliance of the smaller parties for a common cause to get out of the EU first. After which discussion and debate on the future direction that the UK nations wish to take can take place. Of course I would argue we remain the UK and would hope to convince you to do the same! |

I was always a unionist Brit, but having got involved in English politics I have come to the conclusion that the English are being shafted by everyone. Worse than that, the English have no voice. The EDP are currently giving us a voice and I believe they are performing very well considering that everyone in the EDP is an unpaid volunteer. Looking forward, it is my belief that the UK is finished and that the English must be ready for this instead of just accepting the fallout post devolution. I also believe that the Scots and Welsh will be worse off after devolution (although initially EU cash will soften the blow). Cheers! |

Yep,
The most important thing is that we all keep putting out our (similar) message to the masses - Never vote Labour, Tory or LibDem - between them they have conspired to destroy this great nation. Give me UKIP any time over these. |
