Default Dr North on Nigel Farage. Not pretty.

Umbrella Blog • View topic - A whiff of realignment?

Posted this afternoon.

I've been a eurosceptic since Jimmy Goldsmith's days, attending his bash in Brighton and posting his leaflets. I've been a member of UKIP for about 10 years off and on (have trouble remembering subs, nothing political!).

In all this time, I've come to greatly respect two people in particular. It will come as no surprise to anyone here that those two are Messers North and Booker.

This is a very serious statement on UKIP's leader for the fact that it has been made by one of the most respected and learned EU authors that Britain has.

I am interested in why Farage should willingly obstruct The Great Deception's publication. Any ideas?

You can tell a lot from a man's character from the way he fires people, and that told me as much as I needed to know about Farage – to add to the great deal I knew already. Behind that bonhomie and charm is a weak, vicious man, and a coward. For his action I will never forgive him and have nothing but contempt for him.

What I already knew of the man was that he was desperately insecure, lacking in intellectual confidence and jealous of anyone around him that could outshine him. This has reflected in his leadership of UKIP, where he surrounds himself with sycophants, cronies and low-grade dross – and those deluded enough to believe that hope can triumph over experience - anything to avoid anyone that could conceivably present a challenge to him or even question his authority. With dissenters, he deals viciously and ruthlessly, driving them out of office and out of the party.

I don't think that you should be so harsh. There was a time when most people on this forum thought that working with Farage was a viable option. Different activists are just in a different position in the learning curve.

I read that this afternoon.I would hazard a guess that the writing's on the wall for Farage and maybe for UKIP as well.

One thing is for certain, one of them will bring down the other and I know which scenario I will be voting for.

But,not too big a surprise for some of those who have smelled a rat or two ever since he got to be the Leader.

UKIP MUST DUMP FARAGE,IF NOT, HE WILL DUMP UKIP INTO THE POLITICAL ABYSS.

I'll do my bit to inform others on anything that Farage does and assist all those who have the same intensions as I do.

That's not going to happen any time soon. If/when UKIP fails in the June elections and loses most/all of its MEPs, then Farage will have to step down anyway. In the mean time, don't waste your breath calling for him to go; there simply isn't the political will within UKIP to dump him, and by design there isn't anyone particularly obvious to replace him either. You will just have to let it run its course and see if he can prove his critics wrong.

You are wrong AB for the following reasons. It is vital to keep the pressure on Nigel, even if he won't go yet, because to stop criticising him allows him a little more breathing space and he simply doesn't deserve to be left alone for one minute.
