Nigel could be chairman-spokesman, while UKIP has someone else as leader with better managerial and electioneering skills. Then they could maybe get the best of both worlds.

Perhaps Farage has indicated the he and only he will do the vocals for the party,of course,if they were all allowed to speak Farage would just be one of a dozen, wouldn't he?

All this is very damaging to UKIP because the media would really like nothing better than to have access to the whole bunch of them.

Imagine how much exposure UKIP and therefore the cause would have if they did a one off tour of the UK informing and enlightening instead of leaving it to the opposition and media.

Its another no brainer isn't it?

Well, I think it is fair to say that both the Greens and the BNP are closer to getting an MP elected than UKIP - the Greens now have a leader (and an elected one at that), but everything they have accomplished to date has been done without a leader. The BNP's leader is unelected yet they are also doing better than us in with respect to domestic politics. And no Bob Spink doesn't count - he wasn't elected as UKIP and on present trends is unlikely to be reelected under the UKIP banner. So to suggest that having an elected leader is a prerequisite for success is incorrect.

I agree with this... I would put money on Caroline Lucas getting elected in Brighton.

The greens and the BNP understand local issues, the present UKIP leadership understands only dogmatic arguments about Europe, and (I am told) the financial benefits of being allied with NGOs that support the interests of US based oil companies....

Kernow one advantage of NF going would be an end to the vote losing policy of concentrating solely on media exposure in which UKIP has successfully inflicted upon itself untold damage and humiliation in the newspapers ( select any and search "ukip") . The vast £ and staff on media could be diverted to material creation vote measures to connect with the public on what they care about and get positive publicity by ( shock horrer) actually campaigning on issues ... iwe become a real political party .

They might do but their decision to not contest any Council seats in their entire history, not develop the party whatsoever that I am aware of, and not contest any FPTP London Assembly seats makes me less favourable towards them than I would otherwise be. They never communicated with me, a London voter, in any way & I particuarly considered them to be my representatives having voted for them/UKIP in 2004.

Also their result in what they did contest was dire beyond redemption. I suppose that was your point Spon Plague!?

I might re-join UKIP if Farage stepped down but only if there was root and branch reform of the party into something capable of fighting and winning elections. Farage isn't the problem, centralised power and lack of communication is.

This forum is not run by the Lechlade Group. It is run by Anthony who happens to be a founder member of the Lechlade Group. Some of the moderators are Lechlade members as well. However some are not.

I am a member of the Lechlade Group and I am a moderator of this forum but I have no wish to see Richardski become the leader of UKIP. I voted for him in 2006 but I wouldn't do so again.

Part of my despair with UKIP is that there is no-one waiting in the wings capable of taking over the party and uniting it with a common vision.

Forget it!

Without Farage UKIP is NOTHING.

Nigel Farage IS UKIP. Get used to it. He is worth all the rest of us put together and multiplied by 10.

He is the one person who could have kept me in UKIP but I believe I can do better work elsewhere.
