I watched this a while ago. Something of a rant, but very entertaining nevertheless.

He WAS good fun. What they call ooop-North a good 'turn'.

It was a great performance and what made it so entertaining was his spontaneity and total irreverence for everything political - including the UK Independence Party!
He would have been a perfect antidote for what could easily have just been heavyweight politics speeches but which were, in fact, not so as it turned out.
James's speech and the highly entertaining Clive Page (who has lost his way as a journalist and should really be a stand-up comic on TV) with his introductions of candidates to the stage made the whole event irradiate with fun instead of being the dreary dull-as-ditchwater stuff as with the usual LibLabCon conference clips you see on TV.

DED.

Once again, I despair.

This man has let UKIP down before, when he encouraged us to think that he might run as our London mayoral candidate, before coming out for Johnson live on air - the act which got him the sack.

Nonetheless, somebody still thought it was a good idea to invite him to the conference. Little surprise then that, in the course of his ten-minute ramble, he said absolutely nothing in support of the party other than twice mentioning briefly his high regard for Nigel Farage individually. Indeed, he made a point of saying that he did not agree wholeheartedly with any one party. He said nothing about the EU. However, he did make remarks about legalising drugs and a person's right to "sniff charlie", so presumably that's alright then.

Totally embarrassing.

I wouldn't go as far as saying totally embarrassing, but other than being a radio celeb', why was he there? Before all the Nigel haters jump in with , "to promote Nigel", if he was there to promote Nigel, with that performance he struggle to get a job in promoting sex!

Having a tame radio jock might be seen as useful. Extra publicity in the run-up to the elections springs to mind as a good reason to keep Whale on-side.

Agreed I'd sooner have him on side than off side! He may not be a great help onside but he could cause a lot of trouble if he was against, especially with certain sections of the population. I listened to him when Nigel was on his program and at that time I was told he was very popular, but I must confess if Nigel hadn't been on the program I wouldn't have heard of him!

Fun speech. Churchill was great because he was bald. Like it. No weight to it, but I assume it made a break from the more intellectual offerings.
