st athan,
Assuming you are a candidate who has worked hard in south Wales (you are very passionate about this) where do you hope to come on the Welsh list?

Well I am very passionate about this, to be honest it has been one of my hobby horses for quite some time, I absolutely despise the ....Turn up declaring an all abiding passion to represent an area never to be seen again merchants....
I well remember Walter Sweeny pitching up in my constituency 20 odd years ago having no association with the area and standing for the Conservatives having just failed to be accepted for a constituency in the West Country a few weeks previously..since being voted out of course he disappeared from the area and ironically pitched up in the recent Haltemprice election. I was disgusted that someone could just tout themselves around the country at the time until finding some mugs to take them on and I'm still disgusted to this day. If there are no local candidates then I feel that it's fair enough to search for a ' professional wannabe politician with no passion for their own area' As regards the Euro candidacy I am on the list but would have to point out that my distaste for what is going on is fuelled by my views above rather than personal self interest. Realistically we will do well to gain one seat in Wales and we have one outstanding candidate in my view who absolutely works his socks of for UKIP in Wales (not myself) and the thought that somebody who does not reside in Wales, has never helped in Wales is not known to anybody in Wales, never bothered turning up for any of the 3 hustings could displace that candidate through the vagaries of a mainly unsuspecting uninformed party membership in a postal ballot in which all the facts regarding dual entries on lists has not been made clear is quite clearly unacceptable in my view. It's not a matter of parochialism or a candidates nationality which doesn't matter in the least to me ( the Welsh chairman is a proud Yorkshireman) it's a matter of commitment, regional knowledge and without a doubt the principle of residing in the region in point. st athan, I fully understand and appreciate your views. I have highlighted, elsewhere on the forum, my opinion on carpetbaggers who have no loyalty to an area turning up there because they think their vote would be bigger or their personal profile better, but have no intention of doing any work.
