I see Max Mosley was caned 88 times at his Nazi party. Surely the News of the World was derelict in not giving us the numbers in the Nigel Farage caning incident. Maybe if Mosley wins Farage may sue the News of the World for breach of privacy and collect

Personal and business connections with Nigel is a bit of a misnomer. I have mentioned that Nigel was taught at school (Dulwich College) by my brother in law....that's it and we only realised this while having a chat at the SW Conference. You can make such links to almost anyone and yes, they are "personal" but not perhaps in the sense resigned member implies. Business links? We've certainly never either discussed nor completed a business transaction if that's what you mean. Nigel's background is with the London Metals Exchange. Mine is in weird and exotic metals. As far as either of us knows the only thing that connects us in a business sense is that we both know Anthony Lipmann. I know him because I've traded with him, Nigel does because Anthony was (might still be, I don't know) the head of the Minor Metals Traders Association and he looked to Nigel as an MEP for help in understanding the REACH regulations and how they would impact the metals trade. Again, you can call that a business link if you wish but I'd call it pretty small beer. Marta and her residence: she said at the London Hustings that she was in the process of making the UK her residence as required by law. My contact with London? Firstly, my business is not in California and Portugal....one of my business partners is in California, that's correct, another is in Moscow in Russia. But I've not been to either country in near a decade (9 years for the US, perhaps 6 for Russia)...the business is wholesale provision of certain weird metals and everything is done via email and transport companies. It's a small business, very small, we have maybe 10 transactions a year. It can (and has, from Moscow, from California, Portugal, and the UK) be run from anywhere. So why stand for London? Because that's where the UK media is. As some might have noted, I write occasionally for The Times, The Register, the Adam Smith Institute, the Spectator (their online offshoot) and so on. I perform well on radio and despite a great face for radio, reasonably well on TV. The added value I provide is exactly that, both (some) access to the media and an ability to get our message across. Thus London where that value added would be greatest. |
