It is not my job to educate you, nor anyone else, in the workings of our Parliament, I have made a statement, if you don't believe the statement, Educate yourself.

If an MP does not vote in a division there is no way to determine if that MP was was in fact abstaining or absent. No formal mechanism exists to differentiate between the two. Some MP's therefore like to 'double vote' in order to clearly show a deliberate abstention as opposed to a simple absence.

As far as I am aware MP's simply have to show their pass in order to enter the House. To the best of my knowledge no record is kept as to who is present and if such information is kept it certainly is not made available to the public.

As I understand it, it is perfectly possible to be in the HOC but not be present for the division, i.e in an office (if you have one in the main house) or, of course, in the bar
![]() So even if you crossed matched the security records, it would still be difficult to tell whether an MP not voting was actually absent from the division or just couldn't be assed to get out the bar.
