Default Proposed UKIP policy - Reintroduce Duelling

In order to help put the backbone into British society I would like to propose the reintroduction of the Duel.

Effeminate concepts such as racism and homophobia will have no place in a society ruled by the principles of the Code Duello.

Before long the cowardly enemies of our nation will lie dead in their own dung.

Handbags at dawn.

I thought at first you might have had a 'heavy lunch' at the club but I see you posted this at 1:09 pm.

I'm sure the relevant UKIP policy group will study the proposal carefully.

Given the number of revenge killings gone wrong that end in the death of innocents at the hands of young gangmembers and drugdealers, a controlled setting and a set of rules where they can shoot at each other with less risk to the public might be a step up. It would certainly separate the men from the boys. After all it doesn't take much courage to rush into your enemy's home and shoot him whilst he's watching TV or lying bed unarmed, let alone his little brother. It might make you think twice if you have to face him, armed, a few yards away from you.

At the very least duelling should be permitted between members Parliament.

That said, I don't think this is a proposal that would have been met favourable by the UKIP law and order policy committee.

Oh, I don't know. Judging by some of the responses on the various Law and Order threads, pistols at dawn would be an ideal solution for the problems caused by prison overcrowding, disrespectful hoodie-wearers and forum members who disagree with the proponents of UKIP's Law and Order policy.

mrabody: If gentleman cannot settle their difference in a jousting tournament, what on earth has England come to!

Jousting? I don't possess a horse. I do, however, possess a couple off epees that I could use. They're electric ones, but with the buttons removed from the ends they would be very effective. Luckily I know how to wield an epee and have done so competitively on many occasions so I'd be cool about duelling. I am a cr@p shot with pistol, however, and would rather fight man to man with swords.

Pitt the Younger fought a duel, did him no harm.

Aardvark: I am certain the Castlereagh and George Canning fought a duel c.1809. All a bit modern for me, this duelling business; I'm staying with what I do best, jousting. Buy yourself a horse and I'll 'take you on'.
