UKIP's first North-East rally

UKIP is holding its first ever North East Counties Rally on Saturday 26 July 2008 at The Lecture Room, Central Library, Church Road, Stockton on Tees. The Rally will run from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch

The day’s programme will include speakers from around the country and our team in Brussels, an address by Young Independence, an eye-opening DVD on aspects of EU law and the voting practices of the European Parliament and a special message from Nigel Farage.

By prior arrangement with the organisers, anyone from the audience will be allowed to make a short speech on any relevant subject and there will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

Places will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. The price of entry will be £5 (which will include a UKIP car flag).

Are any others on here going to this? Me and a friend (who is likely to join UKIP on the day) are going, should be a good day. Good to have such an event more local (about 20 miles from where I live). Didn't really fancy watching Darlo's pre-season match at Billingham anyway!

I understand from Gordon (Parkin) that the North East MEP Candidate hustings will also be taking place at this meeting. Gordon was a little vauge about who is on the North East List as it hasn't been formally announced yet. I did however discover that Steve Allison is NOT attending the rally as he is away on holiday the last two weeks in July. So conspiracy theorists make of that what you will! Is Steve's tenure as N.E.R.O about to end?

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to see that it might be a little uncomfortable for him there if he has applied for the MEP lists in the East Midlands, rather than the North East (as he was probably sensible to do).
