Default UKIP and the press

Which newspapers/news channels/news sites are most in support of UKIP? I would have thought the Telegraph would be sympathetic but it was quite nasty about the whole Bob Spink thing.

Indeed do we have any influence in the mainstream press at all? Peter Hitchens and Richard Littlejohn seem to say similar things but I'm sure that if they were asked they'd ridicule us as "old men" or "Little Englanders" or whatever.

We have no influence in the mainstream media. The telgraph is Tory through and through and not particularly favourable.
Our best coverage comes from the BBC, although even they have admitted huge bias.

So basically we have no easy way to get into the press. I notice you're new to the forum. You have a lot to learn about the situation. It is not as easy or simple as it might seem!

I may be wrong (I don't read it often) - but I was under the impression that UKIP gets good coverage in the Western Morning News.

I agree with your comments completely and would add the following - UKIP needs a stategy and tactics which means the press cannot ignore us. That means attacking the LibLabCon's soft underbelly so by affecting them we get publicity and make a difference. In the main the press run stories on our misdemeanours aaaand the BBC gives us a very small slice of the cake to try not to appear bias.

It is madness for UKIP to keep doing the same things over and over again and expect a different result.

From what I see the UKIP isn't favoured by many in the media at all, but this is all down to getting our message out.

We need to prove these people wrong, that the party is not a bunch of little englanders and it is nothing like the BNP

As a whole the press IS pretty eurosceptic and this is why we can talk them around, there is a lot of work to do but the country is pretty anti-EU so it shouldn't be too difficult providing we campaign effectively and get the right message across

Welcome to the forum by the way

We get the amount of press we can. It is a chicken and the egg situation.
Once we start getting local councillors elected then we will get local press. We get fair coverage on EU issues because that is where we are strong. We get little coverage on Westminster issues because we are not very strong there.

Then in Swindon we must be bucking the media trend. We are openly featured in the letters pages a minimum of twice usually 3 or 4 times a week. During the election campaign it could have been argued we got more than our fair share. From small Acorns, Oak Trees Grow. If we sow the seeds at a local level and get local editors onside then it is a start.

I hate bursting bubbles but if our coverage is so 'wonderful ' how come we only get 2% of the vote. We will never get coverage for Westminster issues because nobody cares for our opinion. UKIPs jobshould be to get the UK out the EU before it does us any further damage. Period.

And how do you intend to do that without getting press coverage or getting elected?
