If not why the hell else would they vote for those two Party's?

I don't think that union support or the EU factor into how people vote a great deal.

Default Post Ratification Referendum.

The Tories have made it clear they will not have one. They contend there is no mechanism under EU rules to allow it. The only possible avenue is a Referendum in/out vote, and then we would have to negotiate out exit with all the other 26 and that would mean billions in compensation. The Tories will never take that risk. After all they are pro EU, anything else is just a smoke screen. This is why UKIP need this as their lead tactic both in the Europeans and in any subsequent elections. The party machine should be producing a simple policy document which states consisely the view of all four parties.

The LT is supposed to provide for nations leaving after giving two years notice. IWAR wanted a referendum which asked both questions - do you want the LT ratified and do you want to be in the EU. There is nothing stopping a referendum taking place once the Tories win power [once the answer is known - negotiations start] - it seems to be their weakest point and a measure which would have the electorates support.
