In todays Times a small paragraph apologising to Bob Spink for giving the false impression that there was an impropriety in his private life.
I haven't got a link I'm afraid I just spotted it by chance when unable to get my usual paper today. I don't think that theres much doubt as to the measure of Murdochs publications constantly trying to do a hatchet job on UKIP. Whilst of course not being too bothered about misleading the public on occasion. I've never really understood why legal representatives don't insist on retractions that cover the same page space as the original article instead of little hidden away retractions. I did recently spot I think it was an American publication being ordered to do just that, about time it was forced over here! |

Dr Robert Spink MP
Our report (An affair, an e-mail - and another Tory MP bites the dust, News, March 13) may have been understood as suggesting some impropriety in Dr Spink’s private life. No such suggestion was intended. We are happy to clarify this matter and apologise to him. That's it. |

Actually Spink has now got three apologies from-the Times the Telegraph and the Evening Standard and got them all quickly.
What a difference from the caterwauling and splenetic fake fury shown by Nigel garage to get one out of three allegations withdrawn. The words 'a serious politician' come to mind . |
