With Bob Spink's arrival into UKIP, there has been a lot of speculation about more MPs. But what I haven't heard about lately is any talk of more Lords joining. When Lord Pearson of Rannoch and Lord Willoughby de Broke joined there was talk of more to come.
So, where are they? And, when are they likely to come? How can UKIP induce more over, and who are the likely targets?

I watched the UKIP Lords on T.V. for a bit last night. Lord P of R had tabled an amendment over an EU police force being allowed to operate here in Britain. The Labour **** scoffed at it and denied it was ever a possibility.
So Lord P said he would withdraw it, but made the point this was now on record with Hansard. I fear no one really gives a toss anymore. They have lied so many times, that they have no qualms about doing it any more.

I saw Lord Pearson on BBC Parliament last night too. Amazing claim by the Labour man that the Gendarmerie Force is 'nothing to do with the European Union'. Refused to confirm that it would never be used in the UK without the prior consent of the UK Parliament.
Lord Pearson has the patience of a saint. He and Willoughby de Broke are totally lone voices in the House of Lords. |

I wish UKIP could use them to better effect. It sends a pretty big message about the respectability of the party when you have Lords.
Something the BNP will never have.

Having a "Lord" to represent you is not necessarily such a big thing; I suspect in fact, that most members of the public regard them as a pretty staid and unrepresentative (unrepresentative - mmm..sounds very much like the EU) bunch of religious and blue blooded nitwits in their gowns and furs that belong to a bygone age of a repressive landed gentry elite.
Besides, why on earth would the BNP never get one? How can anyone really be sure what will happen over the next 10-15 years? The BNP has been around for over a quarter of a century and has made major strides against the odds over the last ten years, despite being the most hated political party in the UK. Who would have thought UKIP getting any had it not been for a succession of good Euro results from 1999-2004? |
