In March 2007, UK Independence Party MEPs voted to withdraw the whip from Tom Wise following allegations that he had been misusing parliamentary allowances. Since that time he has not been a UK Independence Party MEP, despite his claims to the contrary.
Mr Wise had not informed the party of actions which were being taken against him and this was considered a severe breach of trust.
Under the rules of the party he was banned from holding any office or seeking candidature. He is sitting as an Independent MEP.

In March 2007, UK Independence Party MEPs voted to withdraw the whip from Tom Wise following allegations that he had been misusing parliamentary allowances. Since that time he has not been a UK Independence Party MEP, despite his claims to the contrary.

Tom wise is an MEP. Is he a member of UKIP? the above statement does not say that he is not, therefore it is reasonable to assume that he remains a party member. His statement of yesterday reads in part "I of course remain ........a member of UKIP and will continue to campaign and work for Britain to leave the EU. Tom Wise MEP"

If he still is party member, and it looks very likely that he is, then it is reasonable for Wise to describe himself as a 'UKIP MEP' in the same way as a conservative MP who has the whip withdrawn remains a conservative MP.

The only truthful way forward is for UKIP to expel wise from the party.

(sorry tony, X-post!)

Farage is, as admitted in his letter to the Sunday Times, under investigation by OLAF.

It therefore follows that Farage must have the whip withdrawn.

Or are the rules made up, bent, and twisted to suit the needs of this man who renaged on his promise not to employ his family? The only UKIP MEP, incidentally, to break his promise to the party and the electorate, letting us all down.

The man who borrowed £10k to "buy a new car" and never bought the car.

The man who has serious questions hanging over his pension contributions.

The man over whom serious questions still hang concern his lumber futures trading company that collapsed owing money.

The statement above claims that Wise was suspended for not informing the party that he was under investigation, just like Ashley Mote.

Whether or not this is actually why he was suspended is another matter.

This doesn't apply to Farage because he has admitted that he is under investigation, although he claims he was unaware of it prior to it being announced in the Sunday Times. Based on the apparent facts, it doesn't seem inconsistent to me.

Farage has admitted he is , under investigation by OLAF . Does that mean he's guilty of something .Innocent intill proven quilty , ever heard of it? if you dislike him that much do every one a favour and leave the party and stop fighting on public forums

Do you question the fact that he is guilty of reneging on the promise MEPs made in 2004 not to employ family?

What is going on? Tom Wise tells members he is still a UKIP MEP and party member and yet Nigel Farage says he is not. I understand that his party membership was only recently renewed. We need conformation. If he has been thrown out of UKIP give us the date when this happened. Was this an NEC decision?

Do you think the NEC is allowed to make decisions?

The NEC is there to take the blame, and if necessary the financial responsibilty, for whatever Farage gets wrong.

Isn't Tom subject to discipline proceedings? So we won't know anything until they've worked their course...
