So it might if it were true, but it isn't!

UKIP's other MEPs tried to disown Tom Wise in February 2007 by withdrawing the whip from him, a meaningless phrase in the context of the European parliament because MEPs sit and vote there as representatives of their EP group, not of their party. His status as a party member and UKIP MEP was unaffected by this 'suspension of the whip' and he also remained a member of the Ind/Dem group, even being elevated to its bureau which gave him greater influence within the group. In August the party secretary informed branch chairmen that the NEC had suspended Wise "from all offices within the Party and from participation in UKIP's affairs generally", but the NEC did not have power to do this and the so-called suspension was subsequently lifted.

Tom Wise has now resigned from the Ind/Dem group, so he cannot even be sacked from that, and confirmed in yesterday's statement that he remains a UKIP MEP and a member of UKIP. He is listed on the EP members' directory as 'UK Independence Party'.

The story in this Sunday's News Of The World, is one of the better items which are being planned. In case Bob FM, should be reading this, he can take that as gospel, and has nothing whatever to do with malicious and unfounded gossip.

What UKIP is involed in, or at least many of its leaders, is not just squalid, but an attack on the electoral system itself. It is nothing less than that. All those being ionvestigated either by the police or Olaf, must be suspended until they are cleared of all wrong-doings or irregularities. No exception should be made for any individual, irrespective of their position within the party. They don't own the party, it belongs to the membership.

We must support Nigel Farage in his plea for tighter regulatory control by the statutory authorities. They must visit the party, with the police if necessary, and examine the books. UKIP accounts of, 'no fixed abode', must be surrendered as a matter of urgency. All private companies, which existed chronologically, and involved personnel associated with the Ashford Call Centre, must be identified for special attention. This is the least that we should now expect.

The process to select potential MEP's must cease, until more urgent matters have been investigated. Decent people came together to form a party dedicated to a noble cause: now look who we have in the most senior positions. We want no more excuses; the sycophants, apologists and nodding donkies, of those who have brought us to this juncture, have much to answer for. When will the reality dawn on them?

There are now serious problems in the East. There are concerns that the MEP selection process will be biased in favour of certain candidates. There are concerns that senior figures in the East are abusing their position. The Regional Committee is a law unto itself with members co-opted onto it by the Regional Organiser. I don't recall him approaching Branch Chairman and asking them for names. Who gave him the right to appoint new members without the backing of branches? The members don't have a say. Is this democracy?

Lord, still harbouring that crush, are we? Don't talk rot. Farage and Godfrey rent out the flat which costs more than staying in cheap hotels.

Just because you don't like Nigel doesn't mean he's breaking the rules.

Tom Wise is not a UKIP MEP.

Default UKIP catch the gravy train

Three years ago, the 'Sunday Times' wrote this:

UKIP catch the gravy train

The Sunday Times this week lifted the lid on the hypocrisy of certain UKIP members whilst on their monthly jaunt down to Strasbourg.

Whilst UKIP are always the first to criticise the European Parliament's costly haul down to Strasbourg from Brussels each month, it seems they are quite content to make the most of their time down there by living it up, attending glitzy free dinner dances at the cost of the European taxpayer.

The so called annual "asparagus party," thrown to celebrate the start of the asparagus season, an alsatian delicacy, was a hit with euro sceptics from across the EU. Whilst most MEPs stayed away to concentrate on parliamentary business, UKIP preferred to make the most of the free booze and share the dance floor with the likes of Jean Marie Le Pen.

As Nicola Smith, writing for the Sunday Times observed: "UKIP members Mike Nattrass and Tom Wise, having sampled the wine, soon joined in the singing and demonstrated impressive air guitar techniques to the dancing Eurocrats. They supposedly came to Europe promising to clean up the institution and fight against the gravy train. But to me it looked as if they were enjoying it."

It seems that UKIP members are quite fond of their monthly retreat to France. In April they abstained on a vote to do away with the European Parliament's costly trek down to Strasbourg each month, whilst Members of all other parties supported the proposal to do away with it.

Default "They spend all their time in restaurants"

One elected UKIP M.E.P., Robert Kilroy-Silk, said this, on his first-ever visit to the European Parliament:

[from BBC report 20 July 2004]

EXTRACT:

During a press conference in central London, Mr Kilroy-Silk was asked what he was going to do in the European Parliament when he sits there.

He replied: "Wreck it - expose it for the waste, the corruption and the way it's eroding our independence and our sovereignty.

"Our job is to go there and to say, 'look, this is what they do, this is how they waste your money, this is how they spend it, this is how it gets corrupted, ****this is how they all go on this kind of gravy train and spend their time in restaurants****'," he said.

This is where UKIP fall down.

If they had made a clear statement on this ages ago, then there wouldn't be any doubt.

They DID take his bit off the main site, but there was no real explanation as to why.

The organisation and communications at UKIP are still truly shocking.
