So Roger`s decision may be all important after all.On balance UKIP`s MEPs would be better off out ,otherwise they will look as if they are trimming their sails on the withdrawal issue.
The group has not resulted in any obvious increase in useful research ,or pamphlets or leaflets or frankly anything to help the anti EU effort .God knows what all that funding has been used for.
If there has been a lot of useful work perhaps Gary C and John Petley could publish some of it as I understand both of them are very sound researchers .

It looks like the Ind Dem Group is finished. If Knapman and those Polish MEPs leave thats the end of that.

Following Tom Wise's departure the group consists of 23 members.

Two problems: 1. UKIP had a smaller pool from which to pick MEPs in 2003/4 and hopefully there will be better talent to choose this time round 2. Despite the EP elections using a list system the party cannot unseat its own MEPs - withdrawing the whip is pretty pathethic and doesn't solve the problem.

The likes of Wise should be deselected this time round.

I guess that the News of the World article answers this question. About five hours before they published an article exposing his antics in Brussels he decided to leave the group? Coincidence?
